Heason Technology at the Engineering Design Show 2019

Heason recently returned to the Engineering Design Show for another chance to exhibit at the UK's only event entirely dedicated to engineering, electronics and embedded design. It was great to welcome new faces onto our stand, as well as meeting many of our existing customers to discuss current and future projects.

This year Heason showcased a full line-up of motion control components from our distribution partners KollmorgenThomsonSpinea and Elmo Motion Control, as well as featuring working demonstrations that displayed our capability for the complete design and build of customised motion systems.

Our centerpiece of the show was the custom-built Hexapod, which allowed visitors to control it using a unique six degree-of-freedom joystick connected over EtherCAT. The added bonus this year was our challenging maze game which visitors to the stand thoroughly enjoyed having a go at. There were some very competitive people this year!

Eve Hanford, Internal Sales Manager, comments: "Another successful year at the Engineering Design show! It was great to see a lot of new, and some familiar, faces. After discussing a lot of new and exciting applications, I look forward to seeing what motion solutions we can come up with."

Becci Kemp, Marketing Coordinator, also comments: "The Engineering Design Show was the first time I’ve manned the stand with the sales team whilst I’ve been working at Heason and I absolutely loved it! It was interesting to speak to so many people from all different backgrounds and professions. Definitely a great experience being part of the action!"

What products did we showcase?

To complement the Hexapod centrepiece, we also showcased an array of products that included:

  • Kollmorgen Motors - high performance stepper and servo motors with high power density, optional integral brakes, electronics and feedback.
  • Kollmorgen Drives - include standalone or network, analogue, digital, CAN, EtherCAT, multiple feedback options and on-board position control.
  • Thomson Linear Actuators - easy to mount and operate. They require no maintenance, are easy to integrate into an automated process, do not leak hydraulic fluid and will reliably work under the toughest of conditions.
  • Thomson Planetary Gearheads - high reduction ratio gears, zero backlash, high precision, bearing reducer gears and high-performance multi-stage gears where a high torque to volume ratio is required.
  • Elmo Drives – supporting CANopen and EtherCAT protocols equipped with the latest advanced technology for applications under extreme environmental conditions.
  • Spinea Zero Backlash Gears – designed for applications requiring a high reduction ratio, high kinematic accuracy, low lost motion, high moment capacity and high stiffness of a compact design with a limited installation zone, and low mass.
