What Were the Main Objectives of the IOSH Managing Safely Course?

This 3 day IOSH Managing Safely qualification was set up as a Group Training Course also attended by employees from Variohm and Herga Technology. The main objective was to improve on Health and Safety knowledge across the Group and to allow employees to apply this improved knowledge within their own place of work and to pass information on to others.

The IOSH Managing Safely course covered:

• Assessing and Controlling Risks                   
• Understanding Roles and Responsibilities
• Understanding, Recognising and Evaluating Risks
• Investigating Incidents
• Measuring Performance
• Protecting the Workplace Environment

Protecting employees, contractors and visitors is key within the Group and therefore appropriate training and effective Health and Safety procedures are essential to help lower the risk of injury whilst they are on or around our premises.

Here at Heason Technology we are constantly looking at new training qualifications for our employees to improve knowledge, experience and service.

What are the Benefits?

The benefits of this IOSH Managing Safely course are many, providing benefits for the employer but more importantly, benefits for the employee; the person who is most at risk. Even just a small amount of time spent assessing Health and Safety matters really helps towards maintaining a low accident rate.

Risks exist in every workplace and therefore businesses must follow particular Rules and Regulations; the main Regulation being the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. Despite us already holding an exemplary safety record this IOSH Managing Safely course will further improve on risk awareness and has provided Clive with additional knowledge on how to carry out detailed risk assessments of all work areas and existing processes.

Another beneft of undertaking this course is that it will drive continuous improvement in compliance. Embedded learning and practical exercises which apply to roles and operational activities will help to raise awareness and continually improve our Health and Safety procedures, thus keeping everyone safe.
