A Position Sensor is a device which measures the position of something, whether that is to move the given object to a position or to measure how far the given object has moved. The movement is then converted into an electrical signal so that it can be recorded.
Position Sensors can monitor movement in either a linear or rotary fashion and Heason can provide sensors to measure either.
Many of the position sensors we can offer are referred to as encoders. Encoders are a type of position sensor which essentially convert motion into an electrical signal. The signal is then read by a control device within the motion control system.
Encoders are used a lot within factories and other applications that you may have heard of;
The filling of bottles or jars – encoders are used within the machines to ensure that the bottles and jars are in the correct position for filling.
We can offer both contacting and non-contacting rotary encoders including the inductive encoders known as IncOders from Zettlex. The IncOders are for precision angle measurement and work like a transformer using an inductive technique.
We have a range of linear encoders which include sealed linear encoders to protect the sensor from dirt and dust. With a slim line range for applications where space is tight and a full size range we are confident we can supply linear encoders to suit any application.
