Why is the EtherCAT Hexapod heading to Europe?

Originally designed and built for the Manufacturing and Engineering Show back in July 2015, our EtherCAT Hexapod has proved to be extremely popular with Heason customers.  It features a series of VLPSC sensors supplied by Variohm EuroSensor which we are sure will be of interest to the Variohm EuroSensor customers in Europe.

Which Exhibitions will the EtherCAT Hexapod be Visiting?

The first exhibition that our EtherCAT Hexapod will be displayed at is the Compamed Trade Fair which takes place from 16 – 19 November 2015 in Dusseldorf, Germany. With over 700 exhibitors from nearly 40 countries there will be a wide range of products available specifically for the medical industry. This show will be suitable for Technical Purchasers, Production Managers, Engineers, Technicians, Designers and Packaging Specialists. Variohm EuroSensor will be exhibiting alongside Herga Technology on Stand M31, Hall 08a.

The second exhibition is SPS IPC Drives which takes place from 24 – 26 November 2015 in Nuremburg, Germany. This leading exhibition for electric automation offers visitors the opportunity to research and discuss the right solutions for their automation requirements. Variohm EuroSensor will be exhibiting on Stand 221, Hall 4a.

What Makes Up Our EtherCAT Hexapod…

Our EtherCAT Hexapod consists of two Hexapods; a large servo-electric actuator driven unit, which is able to run on pre-programmed motion sequences, and a smaller manually controlled “joystick” with six linear position sensors.

It uses the Stewart Platform principle to full effect with six Thomson PC-series high-precision linear actuators fitted with Kollmorgen AKM series brushless motors complete with incremental encoder feedback.

Our EtherCAT Hexapod uses Elmo Motion’s ‘Gold’ series Solo Whistle Drives with a Maestro EtherCAT master for control.  Then using six VLPSC series linear sensors supplied by Variohm EuroSensor configured as a 6 DoF joystick, the user can operate the Hexapod.
