Why choose DRIVE-CLiQ?

A few years ago Siemens developed a bespoke Ethernet-based interface for the Sinumerik system resulting in those who wanted to use motors from other manufacturers were reliant on special DRIVE-CLiQ sensor modules. This is no longer the case at Kollmorgen. Instead of sending feedback signals through another module in the switch cabinet Kollmorgen takes the direct route thus saving on installation time and space.

The engineering industry values AKM power packs for the high power density they produce and the ability to make precise adjustments for optimal fit.  Kollmorgen is one of the first drive technology manufacturers to offer a DRIVE-CLiQ interface integrated into their Servomotors, with these Servomotors also now available from the Heason range of Kollmorgen products.

Engineering specialists in servo drive technology and motion control have released a new version of the motor with Heidenhain encoders in AKM motor sizes four to eight, and in single and multi-turn versions.  In terms of connectivity, it is possible to continue using existing system cables from the DRIVE-CLiQ system in the M12 version.  In addition to this customer-specific connector, solutions are now also possible.

What is an AKM Servomotor?

Also referred to a versatile permanent magnet motor the AKM Servomotor from Kollmorgen comes with 8 frame sizes including a frame-stack length, wide range of voltages, feedback, braking and interfacing options. With high efficiency and low cogging it ensures smooth dynamic performance with precise control and reduced energy requirements.

The AKM Servomotor also offers exceptional torque-density characteristics producing up to 47% more shaft power. This allows a reduction in motor and drive size as well as a more compact installation, with the potential for overall cost savings.
