Heason Technology:Stand N2-198 to Demonstrate Novel Rotary Actuator with Integral Slip Ring Assembly

At this years DSEI Exhibition, Heason Technology will demonstrate its expertise in motion system design and assembly with a concept high precision rotary actuator system that combines servomotor, gear unit and slip ring components that could be

With all major components supplied by Heason Technology’s distribution partners, and with in-house design and build carried out at its West Sussex production facility, the actuator drives and positions a large rotating tower with two TV monitors attached that are electrically powered and fed HDMI signals via the integral slip ring assembly.

The extremely compact concept actuator is based on custom and standard actuator designs that Heason Technology has developed over several years with nominal output torques from 50 Nm to 500 Nm and with maximum positioning accuracy to within a few arc-seconds. The gear unit used is from the innovative TwinSpin® series by Spineawhich features a unique trochoidal gear reduction system with an integral heavy duty axial/radial bearing arrangement that autonomously supports the full driven shaft load. This gear unit design provides exceptional output torque to size ratio as well as extremely low backlash and is available with both solid and through-hole output shafts. Thin-ring torque motors from USA manufacturer Emoteq provide very high output torques with minimal cogging and when combined with resolver feedback and high performanceKollmorgen servo drives, provide very smooth velocity performance and precise position control. The separate rotor and stator assemblies have very compact dimensions and the inherent through-hole design perfectly makes provision for the Servotechnica slip ring assembly. For the concept actuator, a 24-way miniature capsule unit is used which is a part of a comprehensive range that includes separate slip ring and brush units as well as packaged assemblies with up to 96 circuits for transmission of electrical signals, video signals, field buses etc. and power up to 50A and beyond.

Heason will also be demonstrating a selection of motion products and components from its wide range. These include servo and stepper motors with associated drives and motion controls, linear and rotary positioning mechanics, linear and rotary encoders, ceramic servo motors and positioning stages, high precision gearboxes, rotary actuators and slip ring assemblies.
