Servo motors are brushless motors that are coupled with integrated feedback for closed-loop control. They are typically suited to systems requiring high speed, high precision and high acceleration.
Servo motors offer exceptional performance over traditional DC brushed motors as the motors are commutated using electronics rather than carbon brushes. There are various options available including brakes, multiple feedback devices and different IP ratings.

In a servo motor the rotor carries the permanent magnets and the fixed magnets are energised by electricity. This removes the need for the use of carbon brushes to transfer the electricity to the rotor.
A servo drive is then required to commutate the system, using a feedback device to accurately monitor the position of the rotor. This in turn allows the servo drive to energise the electro-magnets in the correct sequence to make the motor turn. Our range of servo drives are compatible with most of our servo motors.
Servo motors are well suited to precision velocity and positioning applications, offering accurate control of speed, position and torque. They are also well suited to higher rpm and varying load applications due to the servo drives ability to monitor and maintain a constant speed/acceleration.
