Torque Motors is the generic name given to motors that can provide a continuous torque whilst stalled without incurring damage. This includes all brushless DC servo motors, housed and unhoused. Often the term Torque Motor is given to frameless motors with winding characteristics that suit high torque at low speed.
The HP/HT motors from Kollmorgen incorporate an insulation system, delivering uncompromised performance in high temperatures up to 240°C (464°F) and 2,068 bar (30,000 psi). The deeper your exploration takes you, as well as higher production temperatures and pressures, the more you depend on motors that can handle the extremes.
Cartridge DDR Servo Motor
Cartridge DDR Servo Motors combine installation ease of a full-frame motor with the performance advantages of a frameless motor. Most models can be installed in under five minutes, and feature an integrated, factory-aligned high-resolution feedback device and a unique bearingless design that couples directly to the load, using the machine’s own bearings to support the rotor.
KBM™ Series Frameless Motor
Designed to be directly embedded in your machine, the KBM™ Series uses the machine’s own bearings to support the rotor. With a huge selection of standard motors, plus the ability to quickly and cost-effectively incorporate co-engineered modifications, you can choose an exact-fit motor that provides the highest performance in the most compact spaces.
RBE(H) Series Brushless Motor
Used for direct drive applications, the RBE (H) Series includes a wide range of brushless motors; these motors are produced in housed (RBEH) and frameless (RBE) configurations. Please note they are currently available to support existing customers only. For new applications we recommend KBM™ Series frameless DDR motors, as well as the D and DH Series housed motors or the innovative Kollmorgen Cartridge DDR Series.
HT Series Torque Motor
HT (High Torque) series of frameless brushless torque motors are available in nine standard diameters, ranging from 19.3 mm (0.760 in) to 127 mm (5 in) with up to six stack lengths each. Winding voltage is 24 VDC or 100 VDC, depending upon model, and continuous torque ratings range from 0.021 Nm (2.9 oz-in) to 4.4 Nm (693 oz-in). Hall effect commutation sensors require no setup on the part of the user and are integral to the motor.
MegaFlux Torque Motor
Frameless MegaFlux series are high-performance frameless brushless torque motors and are computer- designed. They are optimized to provide the highest torque density brushless torque motors available. To enhance their performance in precision applications, special attention has been given to the minimization of their cogging torque.
