Ironless PM Linear Motor

Kollmorgen PLATINUM Direct Drive Linear Ironless Motors

200601111504510.ironless

Kollmorgen PLATINUMŽ Direct Drive Linear (DDL) Ironless motors have no slots for the coil windings. That means a very light mass, absolutely no attractive forces between the coil assembly and the magnet way, and absolutely zero cogging for ultra smooth motion.

The modular magnet ways consist of two opposing rows of magnets to maximize the generated thrust force and to provide a flux return path for the magnet circuit. These characteristics make PLATINUMŽ DDL Ironless motors ideal for applications requiring very low bearing friction, high acceleration of lighter loads, and for maximizing constant velocity, even at ultra slow speeds.

  • 21 to 450 N (4.7 to 101 lbf) continuous force accommodates a wide range of application requirements
  • 60 to 1600 N (13.6 to 360 lbf) peak force meets high instantaneous power requirements
  • Smooth motion and speeds as low as 1 micron/second
  • Low mass coil assembly for high accelerations
